After the clash was done and Freddy went on juggling his winner set, I had the chance to talk to some of the main actors of this event. First of all, let's focus on the referee for the night, Pionear.
Cla.at: Pionear, tell me, was it an easy decision to declare Jaro the winner ?
Pionear: I saw especially the feedback of all the soundboys who gathered around the stage, and as far as I see it, it was clear that Jaro is the winner, except for the first round perhaps, where people simply forgot how good Pow Pow did actually play.
Cla.at: Pow Pow really striked forward in the dub fi dub. If they would have played in that manner the whole night, they could even have won perhaps. What do you think, why Pow Pow gained their whole power only in the dub fi dub ?
Pionear: Good question... In my opinion, before the dub fi dub Pow Pow played too much juggling style, not letting enough room for speeches. Freddy, as he always does in fact, killed them with his speech. And of course he had the right dubs in his box.
Cla.at: What's your final statement about this event ?
Pionear: It really amazing that such a thing can take place in Stuttgart, Germany, and the people got enough clue already to know what awaits them in a sound clash. It was history in the making, and I hope that it gets another things of that sort started.
Now over to Pow Pow Movement, represented for Cla.at by selector Ingo and MC Devon.
Cla.at: What went wrong ? Or did even anything went wrong ? What do you think...
Ingo: Nothing went wrong. Good fight, good soundclash, it was close, Jaro won and it's okay.
Devon: I'd just say, Freddy played great, really great, I must admit that. I seen him playing a number of times before, and today he was much better than the times I saw him till now, he came up with a whole heap of old Jaro dubs. It's okay that he won. Losing against Jaro is nothing to be ashamed of.
Cla.at: Many people got the impression that you really gained full power in the dub fi dub only. How come ?
Ingo: Well, it just came that way... It was like in Hamburg, we got in slowly. The first round was completely okay, the second round was a bit slow-paced perhaps, the third - i don't know right now, the fourth was cool, and yes, we just get better the nearer the ending is. And I don't think that it was an absolutely clear thing the whole time. Freddy got to get really deep in his box, and that's what saved him at last.
Cla.at: What are the plans for the near future ?
Ingo: We always got plans. This event changes nothing concerning our plans. There will be further soundclashes, perhaps even one against Jaro again ? We don't need to hide. We showed that we're there, when the tapes will reach Jamaica and the US, people will judge for themselves. We showed that people must be aware of us.
On this place there must have been a statement from Freddy. Now it's missing. You can be sure it's not because of some bias thing or something, I would have really loved to ask the great Jaro selector a few questions, but through my own fault, I missed the time when I should have spoken to him. I apologize big time, and be sure to check out the Freddy interview on www.germaica.net, which should be out by now.
Well, that's all. Big up both sounds for delivering a great show, perhaps even the greatest soundclash show Germany saw until now. Big up the promoters aswell, Sentinel and Blessed Love, for making this possible and holding their promises. You know, many promoters announce a clash and it just gets an ordinary juggling, but these promoters held their promises and made a great event possible. Big up Pionear and the whole germaica.net crew for supporting this event and for all the support they gave Cla.at until now. And of course big up the crowd, which made this piece of history possible at last.
Watch out for when we will have the whole clash recording online in 24kbps mp3 quality, give thanks to Ingo for making it possible.
