Tape of the Month: Soundbwoys Destiny - Boomshots #03

Soundbwoys Destiny - Frankfurts Number One Bashment Machine just released their annual Mixtape "Boomshots". Valentin checked it out for the Claat combunity and supplied us with a review of this heavyweight Bashment Mixtape.

Soundbwoys Destiny - Boomshots #03
Soundbwoys Destiny from Frankfurt/Main is undoubtedly the largest Sound in the bay area. Since their foundation year in 2000 they rule the Dancehalls around Frankfurt and also run a monthly bashment series named "Master-Blaster". During these years they also released their successful mixtape series "Boomshots" featuring the hits that controlled Frankfurts' turntables over that time.

Now ... Boomshots 03 is the best of their past tapes so far. It features a nice selection of 2003 riddims like Sexy Lady, Wanted, Egyptian, Good to go, Coolie Dance, Snake, Fiesta 2k3, Range Rover, Salsa, Rebirth and so on.
It also features a short soca segment with tunes like Kevin Lyttle's creeper "Turn me on" - released 2001 it now slowly climbs the billboard Charts in England. Kevin Lyttle was just signed by Atlantic Records - hopefully the One Hit Wonder will stand up for the task and be able to push Soca worldwide even more. The Mixtape also contains the jamaican carbon copy of Trinidads Collectors Riddim. Soca heads will certanly not be too amazed by the tracklist, but Boomshots 03 is a Dancehall Mixtape and it is definetely a good one. It is mixed, produced and selected very well in every aspect.
The Soundbwoys used a decent amount of lickshots and don't feature a vast array of dubplates. I like that, because at home or in the car I prefer well mixed 45 to poor quality dubplates. Speaking of dubplates I need to mention Frankfurts own controverse DJ D-Flame.

I didn't like D-Flame for the longest time - for years he tried to cross german hiphop and dancehall and I never liked his abilities in either discipline. This year D-Flame produced his own riddim name "STOPP!" (Germaican Records).
I simply love that riddim and I even feel the D-Flame tune (he invented a pretty simple but effective dance, with the idea that everytime he sings "Stopp", you stop dancing until the riddim continues.) and he voiced a superb special for Soundbwoys Destiny!

"Stopp! Immer wieder wenn ihr dieses Dub hφrt, habt ihr gestoppt, Soundbwoys Destiny rulen, wδhrend euer Sound floppt... Viele haben gelabert, sind weg, Destiny is noch hier. BOOMSHOTS".
For real! They are still here and you should defintely get a copy of their 2003 Bashment mixtape.
