On Easter Monday, April 17, 2006, Death Before Dishonor 6 is slated to take over Montego Bay. The clash, which is hosted by selector/artist Tony Matterhorn and radio/TV personality Jabba of Hot 97 and MTV Tempo, will entertain fans from all over the world at the outdoor marina Pier 1. Easily reigning as Jamaica’s most heavily attended sound clash, the annual competition will provide revelers with ultimate entertainment.

The line-up of Bass Odyssey, Black Kat, David Rodigan, Mighty Crown, Ricky Trooper and Alaska, is second to none. It’s no secret that the World Clash stage is built for sounds with star magnitude. And every sound on the line-up boasts talent or loads of potential. You better believe the clash’s fiery line-up has people talking.

David Rodigan is clearly one of the industry’s most respected selectors. Getting his start on radio in England over three decades ago, David Rodigan is a legendary force. His knowledge and skills transcend time, allowing him to always be a vicious contender. The selector is making a triumphant return to the Death Before Dishonor stage.

Bass Odyssey whole-heartedly represents Jamaica’s country-side. Although the sound and its members do not hail from the inner-city, their dub box, attitude and success can not be touched. As a sound whose whole team is skilled, Bass Odyssey never falls short of talented selectors with a hunger for victory. Easter Monday 2006 will be Bass Odyssey’s opportunity to retain their title.

Black Kat is also a dominant force in the sound clash industry. The sound is noted for their collection of vintage dubs. Panther’s speeches and connection with the audience has sent the sound home with many a trophy. Also representing Jamaica’s country-side, Black Kat is determined to reclaim their position as the people’s champion.

Ricky Trooper, the former front man of Kilamanjaro, keeps the tension rising at any clash. Inevitably, Trooper will resume his mix-up at Death Before Dishonor 6. Noted as an entertaining selector to say the least, Ricky Trooper is determined to not flop. The selector believes it is his time to shine again.

Mighty Crown can always be credited as a strong clash contender. Their drive, deep and uniquely cut dubs and often strong speeches make them a crowd favorite. Although Mighty Crown came in 2nd place last year, the sound has the passion and drive for success, identifying Death Before Dishonor 6 as their next victory.

Last but not least, Alaska is new to the world clash stage. However, this Kingston based sound has competed against big leaguers including Bass Odyssey, Kilamanjaro and Black Kat over the years. Alaska is skilled in both the juggling and clash arenas. Also, Alaska boasts resources, which may blow the other sounds off the battlefield. Only time will tell.

As the countdown to Death Before Dishonor 6 is under way, sound clash fans around the world are making their bets. There is no question that the best way to experience the clash is to see it for your self.

Death Before Dishonor first took place in 2001. The event was created in an effort to revive Jamaica’s sound clash industry, a dominant part of dancehall culture and reggae music overall. The event has steadily increased in popularity, making it a top annual attraction in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Now, six years later and thousands upon thousands of sound clash fans later, Death Before Dishonor will again go down in the spirit of competition, good music, fun and excitement.
